The Story

In 1986, my Grandfather, John Nally, acted upon his dream and had a sailboat built in Poole, England. Inspired by the beautiful and avid swimming bird, he named his sailboat Puffin. While my Grandfather is gone now, his legacy lives on through Puffin. In 2018, Puffin and her new owner, Istivan Kopar, entered the Golden Globe Race. This race is a legendary solo circumnavigation around the world, just as it was in 1968. Istivan and Puffin crossed the finish line in fourth place after 263 days! If once around the world wasn’t enough, Puffin is doing it again! This time Ian Herbert Jones is at the helm. On September 4th, the race began. Puffin’s rugged design might not be the fastest, but allows her to plow into the dangers of the southern ocean with confidence!
